Constructive Demonstration – Exhibition of a Catalan Vault

The Catalan vault, or flat brick vault, is a construction technique based on a mathematical formula, the interplay of forces and gravity, and follows a parabolic shape akin to an inverted catenary. It is a sustainable structure with local traditions, offering great structural stability, considerable age, and almost infinite possibilities of form. Visit our stand to see how our professionals demonstrate this construction element, which has been used by great masters such as Antoni Gaudí in many of his buildings.

IV GBCE Meeting. Design to Value: The Case of Bryden Wood

The Roadmap for the Decarbonisation of the Building Sector, published by GBCE in 2022, recognises the need to reduce CO₂ emissions from the building sector by 89% in order to stay on track towards a climate-neutral Europe by 2050.
How can we, through design, ensure this roadmap is achieved?
The building sector is a complex ecosystem involving a wide range of stakeholders, where numerous decisions are made that impact on the sustainability of the final product. These decisions directly influence the value of the outcome.
Through this event, the Spain Green Building Council aims to highlight and discuss the value that each stakeholder contributes to tackling environmental challenges without compromising on social or competitiveness goals, which are crucial in today’s context.
Using a real case study from Bryden Wood, the session will put on the table the sector’s challenges and opportunities, focusing the debate on the role of each actor involved.
