Construmat & Sustainability

Sustainability isn’t a slogan at Construmat — it’s what we do

We reaffirm our commitment to building a more responsible and environmentally respectful future through concrete actions that promote circularity, reuse, and sustainable forest management.

Throughout the event, we champion initiatives that give materials a second life, encourage collective creativity, raise awareness about the impact of waste, and highlight the importance of biodiversity and land stewardship. All these activities share a common goal: placing sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

Public Space Co-design Initiative at Ca l'Isidret Using Construmat 2025 Materials

An initiative to give new life to materials from the trade fair

From the Ca l'Isidret community centre, located in the Provençals del Poblenou neighbourhood, co-design workshops are held to create urban space elements using reclaimed materials and objects. This year, Construmat is joining the initiative by donating part of the materials and furniture used during the event to promote circularity and reuse.

📦 22 May: Post-event collection

The organisation will collect everything that could be repurposed: structures, parts, furniture, and other components from both the activity zones and exhibitors' stands.

🛠️ 27, 28 & 29 May, from 6 to 8 pm: Workshop with Abunda Upcycling and Recursos Urbans (As part of Architecture Weeks)

Over three days, the recovered materials will be analysed in order to jointly design urban furniture using discarded and reusable elements provided by Construmat. The furniture created in these workshops will remain at Ca l’Isidret.

Exhibition and Raffle of the Sculpture by Artist ART IS TRASH

During the days of Construmat, the sculpture by renowned artist Art is Tra$h will be exhibited and raffled. Created using single-use takeaway packaging, the piece aims to raise awareness about this pressing issue.

Rezero is a foundation that seeks to shift the social conversation towards waste prevention and promote a fairer, healthier society free from waste and toxic materials. It works through knowledge generation, political advocacy, pioneering projects, and guidance to social, economic, and governmental stakeholders.

In the European Union, 2.025 billion single-use takeaway containers are used every year, generating over 20,000 tonnes of waste annually. These containers account for 40% of plastics and 50% of paper used in the EU and are among the main pollutants found on beaches and in rivers around the world.

In Barcelona, Rezero has revealed that 30% of litter in public bins consists of single-use food and drink packaging waste.
